about

Single 2018

lyrics

Next in line to turn away,
it makes a difference in your day,
as you proudly wear your crown
with the diamonds falling down.
You’ve built these castles in your head
from all the things you’ve left unsaid.
And the fruit you took to Know
left you wandering on your own.
And it should come across as cold
when you sold your soul for gold
yet there was nothing but applause
and the laughter of the lost.

Eternally absent we sail for the shore
longing for love we can't give anymore
so we lock ourselves down in attempt to forget
the moves that we swore we would never regret.

And there I saw you barely stand above the ground,
you had that look like you don’t want to be found
and from the handshake that we’ve made
and the way we let it fade
I saw your beautiful mistake and made it mine.
Along the way you stole a smile that wasn’t yours,
you did your very best to hide it but of course
the empty eyes gave you away
and although you wouldn’t say
I saw the cold dread that you hide so deep inside.

We saw it coming and we raged
while the frequency had changed.
We grew restless and annoyed
as we stared back at the void.
And the glow, for all we know,
we’ve lost it long ago.
All alone in search for home,
our motions set in stone
round and round without a sound
we saw the Sun and let it drown
we made the mirror turn to black,
now there’s a monster staring back
and from afar that’s all we are
beneath a dying star.
Standing tall we let it fall
until there’s nothing left at all.

Eternally absent we sail for the shore
longing for love we can't give anymore
so we lock ourselves down in attempt to forget
the moves that we swore we would never regret.
